Australian coins were first issued in 1966 in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, and 50 cents. One dollar coins were issued in 1984, and two dollar coins followed in 1888. All Australian coins depict Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse with different designs on the reverse. They are produced by the Royal Australian Mint in the nation’s capital, Canberra, which won an international award for “Best Silver Coin 2006” for their Silver Kangaroo Coin.
